Most Striking Paris Museums and Monuments Re-Open
French news agency AFP is reporting that most of the Paris museums and monuments that have been closed for up to a week due to personnel strikes have re-opened their doors despite the fact that many employees are continuing the strike. AFP said the Louvre and Orsay museums, the Chateau de Versailles and the French National Library had all reopened Wednesday, with visitors entering free of charge at the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay as strikers blocked access to ticket counters. The Georges Pompidou Center and the Arc de Triomphe remained closed. The Pompidou Center has been closed for the past 17 days, and it remains uncertain when it will re-open.
