It's midnight in Paris, where can I get delivery from a restaurant who will understand my horrible french?

I BARELY speak french and this is my first night here. I just woke up and it’s midnight and I’m not too keen on walking around Paris by myself at night when I don’t know the area. I’m hoping to get delivery, preferably pizza but I’ll take anything and I need the restaurant to be able to understand frenglish. I speak only intermittent words of french.

thanks, I’m starving!

  1. As I answer this it is 3AM in Paris so I suspect you’ve gone to sleep but just for future reference I’ll give you an answer.

Many places in Paris are open very late. Certainly at midnight there are a vast number of places where you can get food.

You need not be too concerned about walking around at night. You don’t say where you are staying but if you’ve followed the advice I routinely give people in this forum you ought to be staying in the 5th or 6th arrondissement. As long as you’re in the center (1st-6th arrondissements) you’ll find the city quite safe even very late at night.

If you’re in the 5th then my favorite hangout, Aux Trois Mailletz, at 56 rue Galand (just off the rue St. Jacques just a few blocks south of the Seine) will serve you a full meal just about anytime right up untill 4 AM and even later if Tony (the manager) is in a good mood.

And, one more word, if you waste even one meal in Paris eating Mikey D’s or Pizza Hut, the ghost of Escoffier will come and haunt you!

  2. The internet won’t help you now… lol

  3. Pizza delivery places are now closed (stop deliveries at 11pm or so).
I can’t see what you could do without stepping out of your appartment.

  4. you’re lucky I’m french and you can try to call dominos pizza or pizza hut in paris or you can go to MC donalds !
    good luck :)

  5. There’s probably a patisserie or something nearby. Walk around a bit, it won’t be so bad.
